Fear of God Collab Importance for Adidas
Back in December 2020, Lorenzo showed off a Three Stripes tattoo in an Instagram post, and the sneaker industry has never been the same ever since then. Arguably, Nike is developing an Adidas trauma because, while the constant battle between the Swoosh and the Three Stripes is not a new one, losing Lorenzo brings back bitter memories! Basically, because Kanye did the same exact thing to Nike back in 2013. Talk about Déjà Vous!
Long story short, it’s not just about the Adidas 86 Fear of God sneaker. Frankly, a lot is riding on the Fear of God collaboration for Adidas. As you know, the Three Stripes hit a wall with their recent partnerships, especially after losing Yeezys. This ultimately puts a huge ton of pressure on Lorenzo and his Fear of God brand. With the Yeezy partnership officially dissolved, Adidas’ only solace is in the creative vision of Jerry Lorenzo for the future of its high-fashion lifestyle outings. Huge shoes to fill, but Lorenzo is always impressive with his minimalist high fashion/streetwear fusion. First up from the creative well is the FoG twist on Adidas’s classic Forum 86 Lo.
The overall build of the Adidas 86 Fear of God doesn’t stray too far away from its circa 1986 original specifications. This sneaker offers a modernized approach to the classic silhouette and does not diverge from FoG’s design ethos. Design details on the Fear of God x adidas Forum 86 Lo include:
- A Greyscale upper that appears to be made out of a premium suede.
- The addition of lace toggles.
- Raised Cream sole that adds a little bit of contrast to the overall design.
- On the sole, we see a tonal adidas imprint as well as a rubberized FOG imprint on the rear, making way for the Trefoil emblem at the heel.
It may not have the sass or glam of Yeezys. But this FoG x Adidas vision caters to a different audience. This sneaker will be a major hit among those who prefer a more subdued approach to styling. Maybe this is the calm after the storm Adidas has been in need of. We just have to wait and see how the sneakerheads’ verdict contributes to the collabs’ success! The Fear of God x adidas Forum 86 Lo does not yet have an official release date or retail price. But it is expected to hit the shelves around Autumn 2023 – just in time for the holidays!
