What’s with the theme of luxury sneakers in the second half of 2021? The new Adidas x Prada LUNA ROSSA 21 is back in two colorways. This is a bit of sneaker news that has us a bit surprised.
But, maybe we see where the Three Stripes is going with this. We already know that Nike’s doing a new sneaker collaboration with the French fashion powerhouse – Louis Vuitton. To be more precise, it’s actually a three-way collaboration with Travis Scott. Now, that’s a cross that makes sense! It’s a release that’s so huge. It’s generating so much buzz and anticipation. We all can’t wait for this Air Force 1 to drop. So, this might be a mimicking strategy for the Adidas return.
Like, if it works for the Swoosh, it should work for the Stripes, right? Well, that’s not necessarily true. Adidas is not really catering to a huge group in the sneaker industry. Luxury sneakers mean expensive sneakers. And the previous Adidas x Prada Luna Rossa was NOT a cheap sneaker.
PRADA x ADIDAS
Near the end of 2020, Adidas x Prada released the Adidas Prada Luna Rossa 21 – an environmentally conscious, sustainable sneaker. It was one of those collaborations that really shook things up in the game a bit. Dior collaborated with Jordan, Louis Vuitton with Nike… So, why not Prada with Adidas? Right? It was the perfect bridge between luxury and sportswear with a sneaker that’s sleek and technical. We’re not exactly sure whether or not Adidas gets exactly how to do that, though.
The initial release of the white Adidas Prada Luna Rossa retailed for almost $700 – VERY expensive! That’s a lot of money to pay for luxury when the only sign of Prada is the red stripe on the heel!

Coming up soon is the new Adidas x Prada Luna Rossa 2 sneakers in grey and black colorways. The grey sneaker is the lifestyle version of the sneaker that the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team wore during the PRADA cup. While the all-black sneakers pay tribute to the history of Adidas and Prada.
They both feature an upper composed of PRIMEGREEN high-performance recycled materials with hydrophobic E-TPUC. This makes it more flexible, breathable, and waterproof. They also have BOOST midsoles with wrap-around outsoles for enhanced movement.
The solid grey Adidas Prada Luna Rossa features semi-metallic shades of gray. It has the signature red Prada branding on the heel and Adidas brand on the tab. And, there’s more branding on the lateral side of the midsole with the perforated interiors. The EVA ergonomic tongue is clean, sleek, and simple. You can find the exact same composition on the core black version of the Luna Rossa but in all black.
They come in special co-branded packaging with a shoe bag made of technical fabric that is resistant and waterproof.
