The year 2022 was the year of the Cortez, but it seems that so is 2023! We’ve got a decent lineup for this trending sneaker coming up this year with plenty of plans from the collaborative duo.
So, Nike and the Hong-Kong based brand, CLOT, have a history of partnerships together. Some of their most notable moments together include the CLOT Fragment Dunk and the Air Jordan 1 FEARLESS! But now, they’re trying their hand at another Nike model that’s quickly making a comeback. The CLOT Nike Cortez release promises to be one of this year’s best releases!
Not to be confused with the new CORTEIZ drop – that’s a whole other story!
This sneaker represents one of the best moments in sneaker history – one that made its debut on the big screen. We’re referring to one of our personal favorite sneaker movie moments in “Forrest Gump”. Forrest ran 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, & 16 hours in the classic Cortez – Nike’s first track shoes. So, this was, without a doubt, monumental for Nike. Definitely one of the Swoosh’s sneakier Nike ads!

So, news of the CLOT Nike Cortez collaboration is not the only surprise from the duo. The pair are apparently honoring yet another great moment in sneaker movie history – Bruce Lee in Game of Death. In that movie, the late Bruce Lee wore black and yellow Onitsuka Tiger sneakers. And, the duo has decided to honor him with the return of the colorway in one of the three releases. And, they’re also bringing back the original Cortez with a yin-yang-inspired Black and White version. In addition to the original Cortez color scheme – aka, the Forrest Gump look!
The design of the CLOT Nike Cortez in “Varsity Maize” takes inspiration from the art of Kung Fu. They feature an outer black layer – which looks similar to the UGG boot guard trend. You can wear the sneakers with or choose to show off the striking yellow exteriors. Some of its prominent features include Chinese characters “潮” and “幫” at the heel and includes sneaker accessories!
As for the original color release, we can expect an exact replica of the OG Forrest Gump Cortez. RUN Forrest, RUN!
Final details include information on the release of the latest CLOT Nike Cortez which retails for $150 coming 2023.
