We’ve come across an explosive variety of hype sneakers in the first quarter of 2020. From Nike collaborations to Yeezys and Jordans, we were there for the lot. In our 2019 review of hype Jordans, 3 out of 5 were Jordan 1 colorways. Presently in 2020, numbers reveal that 4 out of the 12 most hype sneakers of Q1 are also Jordan 1s. And frankly, we can’t wait to include the Jordan 1 Retro Tie Dye to our Q2 list of summer sneakers. And Air Dior, should it finally drop! We’re also impatient to cop the Travis Scott Air Max 270 React. Which we’re basically drooling over by now! Bottom line, keep posted because you do not want to miss the hype all throughout 2020. New Balance is picking up real fast and might surprise us all by Q2!

Top 12 Hype Sneakers: January Through April 2020
Before you hurry on to the list and wrap your head around those resale values, pay attention to one thing. You got the hype covered. You know what sneakers get you there. Colorways, collaborations, and models. You’re in on that. But one thing you need to pay extra attention to is shoe boxes! And we don’t mean them for your next arts and crafts project. Special boxes increase your sneakers’ resale values by at least $500 as you’ll find below. So you better learn how to safely store shoe boxes if you want your sale to cross its limit!
Nike CLOT Air Force 1 Rose Gold Silk
With its brand mission to merge Eastern and Western cultures, CLOT’s partnership with Nike stretches back to 2006. When the sneaker industry witnessed the one-of-a-kind CLOT x Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death”. But the closest we ever got to Rose Gold Silk was the Nike Air Force 1 Low 1World Clot of 2009. Which resold most recently for $7,178 on StockX in December 2019. And as for Rose Gold Silk, it features a rose silk-covered outer with Chinese symbol detailing.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary and Super Bowl LIV, SoleFly launched a celebratory capsule during a pop-up event at Gibson Park. The capsule included the Jordan 10 Retro SoleFly. Which was intended for Friends & Family. It was available via auction on the last day of January and proceeds were dedicated to the Overtown Optimist Club in Miami.

In addition to celebrating a pink velvet-themed Valentine, this collaboration honors artists Todd Bratrud and Sean Cliver. Specifically the mini side skull, which communicates the StrangeLove aesthetic. Talk about My Bloody Valentine!
Not only did the Jordan 1 OG Bred start the Jordan line but it also set the brand’s tone. With its court-banned reputation back in 1985! And now in 2020, the Jordan team, being true to origin, settled for flipping colorways only. Black and Varsity Red remain steady. And the plus side is, we got a Black Toe Retro this year!

To say the least, this Yeezy is among the most hyped Yeezys in history! Not only is it the first basketball performance Yeezy but it was released exclusively during All-Star Weekend in February. Travis Scott is known as the one to hit and run. So we can’t confirm that this is the top Cactus Jack collaboration of the year. But for the first quarter, it goes above and beyond! We’re expecting the Travis Scott Nike Air Max React 270 to own the second quarter. That is, if it doesn’t postpone our excitement for the zillionth time! But we’ll allow an extra tease. Only if this means leaving Cactus Trails worth over $1,300 on resale, then we’re all for it!
Joining the Biblical Pack is the Yin to Azael’s Yang! Similarly to the Yeezy Cinder design concept, Alvah, the Exalted One, showers in all-black. But dedicates a glimpse of sunshine on its outsoles. Yeezy Azael is currently reselling for $529 on average.

Nike SB just loves getting in on the 4/20 sneaker culture. What’s not to love about flying after all? Before announcing the following Reverse Skunk, it was Strawberry’s moment to shine on April 20, 2020. But unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to a July release. Although it wasn’t the only SB Dunk in tribute to 4/20, there’s no way that coughing strawberry emblem can escape resale traffic! And we think it’s only fair it sticks to the first quarter since it was designed to be an April sneaker.
Release Date: 20 April 2020 (TBD July)
Average Resale Value: $1,925
Nike SB Dunk High Reverse Skunk
Dropping 10 years after Nike SB Dunk Skunk is the flipped version of the popular 4/20 colorway. Its predecessor is currently reselling for an average of $1,309. And there seems to be no match for this hairy weed-inspired model other than a different version of itself! Hence, Reverse Skunk. Hype sneakers got a thing for themselves and you know it.
