Investors Sue Adidas: Ye Haunts The Three Stipes’ Dreams.. Again

By May 4, 2023Adidas, Sneaker News

AIO - Investors Sue Adidas“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.” This was the reason Adidas offered for terminating its Yeezy partnership. But not everyone seems to have accepted such a decision. The shareholders of the Three Stripes themselves don’t seem to agree with such a decision. Put simply, investors sue Adidas over Kanye West’s collaboration. Not because they support Ye’s antisemitic behavior, but due to the fact that Adidas hid details from them regarding the artist’s actions. Adidas denies this accusation. But denying it didn’t do the brand much good because investors are still angry as heck!

You see, Kanye’s controversial moments are endless. But there are some outrageous moments no one could ever overlook. The guy is just next level, and he took this controversy to a whole new level the second he decided voicing out his antisemitic thoughts was a good idea. Because things only took a downturn ever from there. I mean, did he think he was this invincible? We can’t say the sneaker industry doesn’t miss him, but the industry also wishes he didn’t take such a step in the first place.

Adidas vs Yeezy

Let’s see what went between Adidas and Ye these past several months. In other words, how was this breakup triggered? And how did it lead investors to sue Adidas? Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?

All this and drama is still ongoing as investors sue Adidas adds that cherry on top.

So, it’s a common fact that Adidas lost shitloads of money from terminating their relationship with Yeezy. The brand is prone to lose more than half a million dollars because of it. So, what happened is the following. Nearly a week ago, investors filed a lawsuit against Adidas. The reason? They claim that the Three Stripes didn’t handle and manage the risks regarding their partnership with Ye the way they should have. In other words, shareholders insist that Adidas failed to warn them about Kanye’s “extreme behavior,” way before the collaboration ended.

Also, investors state that the Three Stripes “routinely ignored” Ye’s unusual behavior starting in 2018. And if we want to be even more specific, shareholders wanted to be warned the second Ye started throwing problematic and troubling comments about slavery, as well as know about his more than frequent antisemitic comments.

The reason “Investors sue Adidas” is all over the internet is because those same investors think Adidas generally alluded to the risks “rather than stating that the company had actually considered ending the partnership as a result of West’s personal behavior,” as stated in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit also states that Adidas “failed to take meaningful precautionary measures to limit negative financial exposure” in case the partnership ended. However, Ye isn’t mentioned by name throughout the lawsuit. It’s also worth noting that the lawsuit only covers investors who bought shares starting May 3, 2018. That’s when Ye made his slavery comment.

Adidas’ Reply

Investors sue Adidas and their comment to CNN is: “We outright reject these unfounded claims and will take all necessary measures to vigorously defend ourselves against them.” So, will this be it for Adidas? Or will their Fear Of God collab save them from the shithole they dug themselves? Well, all we can say is that you can never predict what’s going to happen in this industry. So, all we can do is wait and see!
