Thanks to the late Virgil ABloh, the Air Jordan 2 has quickly become one of the most trending sneakers of the year. Virgil collaborated with the Jordan Brand on the AJ2 Off White release back in 2021. Ever since then, we’ve had more collaborations with brands, including: A Ma Maniere, Union LA, Titan 22, Maison Chateau Rouge, Nina Chanel Abney… And now the J Balvin Jordan 2 is joining the list!
However, J Balvin is known for his creative storytelling initiatives. And so, this makes his collaboration with the Jordan Brand all the more exciting. The Columbian artist always tries to bring out his values and culture into everything that he creates. Sneakers are definitely not an exception!
His last collaboration with the Jordan Brand was on his Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Colores Y Vibras’ in 2020. And, for the Season 14 premiere of Complex’s Sneaker Shipping, J Balvin announced his latest sneaker project. J BALVIN JORDAN 2 RELEASE
So, the J Balvin Jordan 2 definitely does not skimp on creativity. In fact, it has recently been dubbed the “first LED infused Jordan Retro” ever! A pretty awesome twist on light-up sneakers! Even the color scheme of Celestine Blue with the blend of colors is a change of scenery. Balvin even took it a step further to play with the material.
These Jordans feature a nubuck and ripstop mesh material on the uppers and ankle collar. The ankle collar itself comes with winged overlays featuring an insulated puffer material. Elsewhere, we’ve got graphics of clouds on the heel counter and inner tongue tag. But, the most important part of it all is the light-up elements. The ball-and-wings logo on the tongues comes equipped with LED features. The functionality of the LED fixture comes from a lightning bolt logo on the inner tongue to light up green.
And, for branding, we’ve got co-branding with the Nike logo on the heel tab and the Wings logo on the tongue. The J Balvin Jordan 2 also has the artist’s infamous yellow smiley logo on the heels and multi-colored stitching. Finally, it ends with a clean white midsole and icy blue translucent rubber outsoles!
The J Balvin Jordan 2 is expected on September 15th for a retail price of $300 in full-family size. And, although that seems like a steep price to pay, just look at the resale!
