Since we’re getting closer to the final quarter of the year 2021, it’s time we pull up some Jordan heat! And, what better way to do that than with the Jordan 12 Royalty with a DASH of Jordan 12 Taxi! It’s the throwback we all need before the year’s over.
When Nike decides to open their book of classic OGs to create new colorways, it’s definitely good to be alive! Even if the new mockup happens to have the slightest change or alteration, it still works. This way you can pass it up as the sneaker with the bigger hype and kinda get away with it! Of course, this only works when you’re tricking people who do not KNOW their Js!
THE BACKSTORY
So, this new Air Jordan 12 Royalty takes inspiration from the Jordan 12 Taxi – which has a cool backstory! The Taxi colorway launched in the season of Michael Jordan’s fifth championship in 1996-1997.
In essence, the colorways got its name because it has a midsole that looks like the NYC taxi cabs. Also, the model itself has its deep-rooted history too! It takes inspiration from the Nisshoki – the Japanese rising sun flag. In addition to the 19th-century women’s dress boots! This is why the entirety of the Jordan kinda resembles a dress boot with sun-like stripes on its sides. The stitched leather literally radiates outward like sun rays all the way to the arch of the shoe.
AJ12 RELEASE INFORMATION
The Air Jordan 12 Royalty looks exactly like the Air Jordan 12 Taxi. They both feature stitched white leather radiating outward towards the arch of the shoe. This is definitely a Jordan you will have to maintain (check this). The arch features two large strips of black leather that goes all the way to the midsoles of the Jordan. The strips come in embossed lizard skin that looks exactly like the one featured in the Air Jordan 2! If you’re confused, then you should learn more about sneaker anatomy here.
Finally, to finish it off, we’ve got the black leather outsoles to give it the iconic AJ12 color block! The soles are heavy, durable, and sturdy to perfectly dominate the basketball court. Talk about epic sneaker technology! As for cushioning, we’ve got the Zoom Air and carbon fiber plates in the midsole! Another notable thing is the absence of the inner bootie which means it won’t fit as tight as it usually does. Check out your Jordan size here.
As for the differences between the Jordan 12 Royalty and Taxi colorways, they include:
– The Jordan 12 Royalty features a more metallic gold than standard gold finishes on the eyestays
– Both feature debossed Jumpman badges and the tongue and heel branding. But, the Royalty comes in gold as opposed to black on the Taxi! Royal treatment!
– Royalty comes with black shoelaces, while Taxi comes with white laces
– The Jordan 12 Royalty has a gold plaque on the lateral side!
– The exposed carbon fiber plate replaces the Taxi Yellow with a Royal silver visible on the outsoles
