By September 16, 2022NFTs

NFT Traits Explained - AIO BotOne of the key elements of an NFT project or a collection is the NFT traits. They are the ones that give true value to a non-fungible token and play a role in its rarity score. Therefore, it ultimately affects its price tag as well! So, understanding how they work and their direct relation to a collection’s value is CRUCIAL!

However, if you happen to be a beginner trying to scrape up last-minute information, you need to slow down. Understanding traits definitely should not be your first step toward becoming a part of the NFT community. As someone just starting out in the game, there are things you should know first. Luckily for you, we’ve got the perfect beginner’s guide for you! It has everything you need to know to kickstart your non-fungible token journey. Click on the button below to check it out!

WHAT ARE NFT TRAITS?

AIO Bot Trait_1NFT traits represent the different parts that make up the entire and final character of an NFT collection – especially PFPs. Using NFT traits adds layers to the design and character of the collection. In other words, it is what brings the collection to life and makes it fun! These traits include attributes, attitudes, characteristics, or even categories like clothing, accessories, and facial expressions.

Generative NFT collections require a list of characteristics to create a design that they can later randomize into unique characters. This way they can create up to 10,000 different versions of the same character. This is something that all the most popular NFT collections use.

Like Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Lazy Lions, and more! The more exciting a trait is, the more hyped the NFT is! And so, collectors would want to buy this non-fungible token more which then raises its value!

Ex:
Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT traits groups include:
– Background
– Clothes
– Earring
– Eyes
– Fur
– Hat
– Mouth

Each trait group contains a set of different characteristics (called sub-traits) that affect the rarity score of the NFT. Every sub-trait has its own degree of rarity which makes it either more or less valuable. Like cross earrings, or blue beam eyes for the Bored Ape Yacht Club sub-traits!

In a nutshell, the more common a characteristic is, the less valuable the NFT becomes. When you check a collection on NFT marketplaces like OpenSea, you can open the list of sub-traits in each group. In the list, you can see a number that represents how often that trait is used in the collection.

Why are NFT Traits important?

NFT Traits 1 - AIO BotWhen creating an NFT project, collectors often go through the list of traits to make a decision. This is mainly because certain traits play a role in the level of NFT rarity and value. When a creator first starts designing a collection, like a PFP, it has no value before adding the traits.

Collectors will hunt for the rarest and most valuable traits of the entire project. The more traits a project has, the more the creators are able to generate non-fungible tokens.

Examples of NFT Traits

Although there are a lot of unconventional NFT traits – especially if you consider GoblinTown NFT collection. But, there is usually a standard that most collections abide by. This includes the most typical characteristics that mainly concentrate on a character’s body parts and facial features.
