Top Three Air Jordan 3s - AIO BotThe Air Jordan 3s will always and forever have a special place in every sneakerhead’s heart! The design on these Jordans still remains one of the most coveted of all 36 silhouettes in the entire lineage. And, above all, it is the model that brought sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield to the game!

The Story Behind the THREEs

So, some people say that the Air Jordan 3s are the sneakers that propelled Nike to everlasting success! It wasn’t just about the design, but it was about the unconventional sneaker technology. Hatfield was the person responsible for the design of the very first Nike Air Max with an exposed air unit. It was his first-produced sneaker ever!

Plus, there was something else brewing! At that time, Peter Moore – the designer of the AJ1 and AJ2 – was leaving Nike to open his own brand. VAN GRACK. And, reportedly, MJ was thinking of going with him!

But, it was Hatfield’s design for the Air Jordan 3s that made him change his mind. Phew! Thank the lords for that! The design of the IIIs implements things that MJ had previously expressed and introduced the Jumpman logo on the tongue. It got personal.

What Made the THREEs Any Better?

So, the defining features of the Air Jordan 3s that elevated them to the next level in MJ’s pov include:
– The threes featured a less restrictive mid-top cuff
– An exposed Air bubble unit
– It introduced the CEMENT print around the toe and heel
– It had an oversized tongue with the iconic emblem of Jordan performing a DUNK!

Jordan wore them during the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest where he dunked from the free-throw line! The rest was history! The Air Jordan 3s were officially of legendary status in the line of Michael Jordan sneakers!
