If you’re the sneakerhead we are, you’re probably snoopy about the hottest 2021 sneaker trends. Whether you need it to set your copping list, your must-have list, or simply curious… we’ve got your back mate! Here’s a small cheat sheet we created that will blow the fashion junkies’ minds. But before you check the list, we’ll do a tiny recap of 2020’s sneaker trends!
Previously, on Sneaker Trends
2020 had some pretty cool trends to match our every mood. From the Dunk comeback to J Balvin’s festive Jordans, we could barely keep up! So what did we get right from our last year’s predictions? You’ll be happy to know that we almost got them all. However, we admit that transparent kicks will probably never be a thing. Not because they’re not cool, but because they’re not the most practical piece of footwear. Despite what the Kardashians would like us to believe. So which of these trends will stay with us and which will be replaced? We’ll find out soon enough!
Sleek High-Tops
Bubye ankle-free sneakers! And yes, we do mean it’s time for you to let go of your basic white Air force 1! We bet you wore the hell out of them during the past year. So it’s certainly time to upgrade and switch to the rise if you want your look to stand out in 2021! As if we needed another reason to love our Jordan 1 highs. Now high ankle kicks are IN and we’re warming our bots to start copping. The trend is already appearing in 2020. Hello? Turdunkens and Bodega’s Legend Dunk High are proof enough. And the best part is they can be paired with anything! Jeans, dresses, skirts, you name it. Besides, they get pretty helpful during the cold weather, especially if they’re winterized.
Supreme x Air Jordan 1
These new kicks mimic the 18-year-old 2003 Supreme Nike SB Dunk High collection but only better. We already know we’re getting the Dunks back in 2021 and in new colorways. So will one outshine the other? The new Supreme Jordan 1 combines the OG Air Jordan 1 silhouette with the famous golden star graphics on the uppers.
Air Jordan 1 High OG “Volt Gold”
Well, you definitely won’t lose the kicks with its strong ankle colors. And you know how much we love us colorful Jordans. The kicks will be a great addition to your high-ankle sneaker rotation. Make sure you don’t miss out on that release with AIO Bot!
Release Date: January 9th, 2021
Retail Price: $170
Color-blocked Chunky Sneaker Trends
Yep, the ugly dad shoes are killing it for another year! Not any chunky shoes though, only the ones with cool colors! Well, why not? They’re comfy, stylish, AND make your legs look longer and slender compared to their gigantic size. Although they’re probably not for everyone, you should go for whatever floats your boat. If you’re feelin’ it, you should definitely be wearin’ it. And that’s why these sneaker trends are always in.
Sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle
The Sacai Nike collab is expanding its collection with 4 new colorways in 2021. The kicks that dropped in November and December of 2020 will be coming back even better. This year’s kicks were definitely worth copping because they’re reselling for some good cash! And if Chitose Abe is good at anything, it’s layering and her choice of colors. The 4 new colorways are chunky, colorful, and awesome. And we’ll keep you up to date once we’ve got the real tea! But what we know so far is that the kicks will come in purple, sail, sesame, and black colorways.
Adidas Yeezy 700 Boost “Bright Blue” and “Sun”
West responds to the people’s criticism of his monochrome Yeezy shoe line with bright colors on the Yeezy 700! And we don’t know how to feel about them. We kinda get why he goes for neutrals now. Color mixing is obviously not his forte. The kicks will be available in 2021 for $300. Who knows? Maybe the kicks will be a hit, especially for being so different from older colorways.
Nike Air Max 90 “Spruce Lime”
These are the Air Max 90 we’ve been waiting for since 1990. The OG colorway of Tinker Hatfield’s 90s never got its due from the Swoosh. So 31 years later, we’d say it’s about time!
Release Date: Early 2021
Retail Price: $180
Plain White Sneakers
Plain white sneakers are simply dope and always in. Why? Because you can never go wrong when wearing them! They literally go with everything and save you the hassle of matching when you’re in a rush. In that case, you can always go with the OG Adidas Superstar, Stan Smith, or even Nike Cortez. But if you wanna spice things up and don’t mind the wait, there are plenty of upcoming white kicks!
Air Jordan 1 Low Center Court
The new design follows the footsteps of the white-on-white sneaker released in December 2020, with a twist. These took center stage after they appeared in an episode of “The Last Dance”. The sneakers will feature a bold red stripe on top of its heel wings overlays. The Air Jordan 1 Center Court covers it all. The sugar, the spice and will make your look in 2021 magnificently nice.
Release Date: January 2021
Retail Price: $135
Futuristic Sneakers
You don’t expect the year to finish off without a touch of crazy, do you? And when we talk crazy, we surely mean Mr. West. Kanye proves, once again, his futuristic vision in the shoe industry! The highly mocked Yeezy Foam Runner could be 2021’s NEW THING. It certainly caused a fair share of sneaker gossip in 2020. That’s not all though, because Yeezy 700 V3 certainly checks all the boxes for a futuristic sneaker. So, if Nike’s Air Mag took us back to the future, the new Yeezys will bring the future to us!
Adidas Yeezy 451
Although inspired by bulky retros, the Yeezy 451 has the full futuristic look package. The new dumpling-looking shoe might hit the shelves sometime in February 2021 for $180! Or at least, we hope it does after all the teasers.
Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 ‘Kyanite’
What’s a better name for your kicks than something that rings like Kanye’s name? So anyway, this is a pair of Yeezy 700 V3 that looks futuristic and not over-the-top. So far, we know that the white and blue kicks will drop in 2021 and will retail for $200! Let’s hope we get more in-depth info soon.
Classics
Classics dug their way into the modern lifestyle in 2020 and grew on us fast and deep. We spotted them on runways, on bloggers, on fashion icons, and surely on your feet in 2021! They are, after all, the silhouettes that remind us of the good old days! So better take them Superstars and Old Skool Vans out of the closets, it’s time to rock them, again.
New Balance BB550
Have you been watching social media pages carefully? Because there’s no doubt you noticed that New Balance is stepping their game up featuring their OG style. We definitely believe that New Balance will have its moment in 2021 showcasing the best nostalgic silhouettes! In fact, the retro colors are coming back as a tribute to 1989. So really, if you’re looking for some vintage feels, we gotchu.
