Also, it’s a well-known fact that technically speaking, there is no such thing as a cheap Jordan. The only cheap Jordan is the one you buy at retail. Period. However, even if you’re copping retail, you’ve still looking at a minimum of $100 for your typical Js!

But, let’s talk about the most important Jordan silhouette of them all – the Air Jordan 1. And, to make things even more interesting, we’re gonna consider the high-top silhouette. Since, let’s admit, we’re all suckers for high-top sneakers! Let’s jump right into it!

AJ1 Retail_Price - AIO BotFirst, the current average Jordan 1 retail price is $170 for the high-top version. Of course, we’re not talking about Jordan collaborations with celebrities or streetwear brands, or special editions. Just the run-of-the-mill Air Jordan 1 colorways. In other words, the MSRP for the Air Jordan 1 High at $170. The MSRP for the Mid retails for $115+. And, the MSRP for the lows is $90+.

However, if you didn’t already know, the first OG Air Jordan 1 carried a price tag of $65 when it dropped in 1985. Yet, you can’t really complain much about this all due to inflation.

Inflation is defined as a continuous rise in the general price level usually attributed to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. In other words, $65 in 1985 does not have the same value as $65 today.

So, we understand that the increase in the Jordan 1 retail price is absolutely necessary. Do we like it? Absolutely not. But, are we still copping Jordans like it’s nobody’s business? Definitely not! Make sure to check the graph to see how the retail price changed from 1985 to 2022!

AJ1 Retail_Price - AIO BotNow, onto the most important part of this piece – the rumored Jordan 1 retail price increase. When Peter Moore designed the Air Jordan 1, he definitely did not skimp on the quality. It was all about quality, story-telling, and culture! You can’t put a price tag on that. And, thankfully, this is still true to this day.

And, after the COVID pandemic, rising costs, and logistics issues; another inflation is expected! So, how much will the Jordan 1 retail price increase?

In early January, Nike announced several increases in prices for different silhouettes including the AF1 and the Air Max 97. And so, we couldn’t have expected the Jordan Brand to be an exception. According to sneaker leaker @zsneakerheadz, the first Jordan to release with the new MSRP will be the Chicago Reimagined. In other words, near the Holiday of 2022! So… Let the countdown begin!
