Air Jordan 9 Powder Blue: Another Original Colorway Returns

By March 18, 2023Jordan, Nike

Air Jordan 9 Powder Blue - AIO BotOh how much we love when the Jordan Brand brings back the OGs! Ain’t no better nostalgic feel than the one that comes with retro Jordans! But, it’s even better when it happens to be a special blast from the past. The Air Jordan 9 Powder Blue happens to have a special place in Jordan’s history and in Michael Jordan’s heart!

The Powder Blue colorway is a color scheme that is a nod to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. And now, for the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 9, the color scheme is making a comeback. Tinker Hatfield designed the Jordan 9s in the year 1994 in a True Red colorway. In the year 1994, the Jordan Brand came out with three new colorways of the model:

– Dark Charcoal
– Light Olive
– And the Jordan 9 Powder Blue

Also, the last time we actually had a comeback for this colorway was back in 2010. So, it’s definitely been a while. And, although the actual anniversary date isn’t until 2023, we gotta talk about it! And, this also gives us an idea of what to expect in 2024 – if we ever make it through 2023!

So, what can we expect for the sneaker anatomy of the upcoming Air Jordan 9 Powder Blue? Well, we’re not exactly 100% sure since there isn’t anything official yet. However, we do know that it will stay true to the original 1994 version. This means that it will come with a color scheme of White, Black, and Dark Powder Blue. Also, it should feature an all-white upper base with geometrical perforations on the sides. And, it should come with black mesh tongues and black eyelets, liner, midsoles, and heel pull tabs.

And, since this IS the Jordan 9 Powder Blue, it has to feature contrasting Powder Blue accents. We’ve got Powder Blue along the midsole, tongue, branding, and heel. It all sits atop a white rubber outsole with Jordan’s Jumpman branding in black at the soles. But, unlike the 2010 pair, these Jordans will not include the #23 numerical on the heels. Just like the original 1994 version!

However, since we are not going to expect the Air Jordan 9 Powder Blue release till 2024… we gotta stay occupied. Until then you can work on your sneaker copping skills – especially on Nike. With the new Nike retailer rules, it’s obvious that the Swoosh ain’t playing. But, with enough knowledge of Nike SNKRS releases and the best Nike bot by your side; you’re golden.
