So, by now we all know that the Adidas YZY breakup is legit and nothing’s going to change about it. We also know that a lot of other brands have already dropped Kanye West from different projects. AND, we also know that the Yeezy resale value definitely took a hit in some areas after the news. But, what does this mean for sneakerheads and sneaker resellers? Everyone is asking one question: should I sell my Yeezys or hold onto them?
Well, the short answer is: no. Do not give away your YZY sneakers.
But, we can’t just tell you what to do without giving you some sort of reasoning. So, what is the reason why you should hold on to your Yeezys? Despite the current awful situation in the sneaker industry, we have some thoughts. Because, at the end of it all, we don’t want you to come out with an L you could have avoided! Therefore, this is our answer to the question: should I sell my Yeezys?
SHOULD I SELL MY YEEZYS?
Should I sell my Yeezys? This is the question that a lot of people are thinking about right now. And, you know what, we get it. However, if you do sell your Yeezys now, you’ll be falling victim to what we call PANIC SELLING. There is something that people have overlooked with their panic selling. With every panic seller, there is a new holder now with their own profit potential!
On the day of Adidas’ announcement, Yeezy sneakers were topping the boards of top-selling sneakers on resale sites. But, people were also selling them for outrageously reduced prices – something they’ll most likely regret later. Unthinkable prices! Anyone who bought a pair of Yeezys then will likely be VERY glad in the future. Not to mention the guy who straight-up burned his Yeezy collection to make a statement. SMH.
And, we should also note that Adidas has announced the stop of Yeezy production. Think about it… An end of a product’s production can increase its demand and price. But, we’re gonna admit, this will most definitely take time. No one’s going to forget all the hate and antisemitism comments that Ye made the past October.
However, although no one says it out loud, we gotta admit… not EVERYONE cares about what Ye did. This means that there still IS a market for Adidas Yeezys! The Kanye ripple effect only affected a certain group of people in the sneaker industry. So, not everyone was asking the question: should I sell my Yeezys?
If I don’t sell my YEEZYs, what do I do?
Okay, should I sell my Yeezys? No. But, what am I supposed to do now? What guarantees do we have that we won’t lose my if we hold on rather than just cashing out? These are all very reasonable and legit concerns. Not a lot of people at the moment would advise against getting rid of your Yeezys.
But, we gotta point out that this is not the first time Ye ends a sneaker collaboration. Of course, the two situations are definitely not, by any means, similar. The Nike Yeezy backstory ended with Kanye leaving the partnership without too much public backlash. But, regardless, the Nike Yeezy sneakers are some of the most expensive Yeezys on resale!
Also, another reason we said no to the question – should I sell my Yeezys – is the YEEZY EFFECT. You see, the ultimate hype, uniqueness, and character of Yeezy sneakers won’t just die out completely. It’s like a toxic relationship we just can’t get enough of. Add scarcity to the mix – the whole, “will never be produced in mass quantities ever”.
Just think about it, there will never again be an upcoming Adidas YZY release again!
So, on a final note, should I sell my Yeezys?
