All You Need to Know About Yeezy 500 [Most Expensive Included]

By July 28, 2023Adidas, Yeezy

AIO Bot - Yeezy 500 HistoryYou’ve got dad shoes that gained enough popularity that they now sell for way more than their retail on sites like StockX. And then you’ve got the chunky shoes that no matter what colorway they drop in, some hypebeasts still cringe away from them calling them THE ugly sneakers. This being said, the Yeezy 500 is more of the former than the latter, depending on the silhouette. So, let’s see what the Yeezy 500s are all about, so you can decide for yourself where you stand in this debate.

So, with Adidas Yeezy’s second sale- post-reuniting– approaching, it’s only right we delve into the details of every silhouette. Because if you’re in to start reselling some Yeezys, you’ll need to start with learning which model sells out the most and which is better left for flexing. However, at the end of the day, if Adidas and Ye only got back together temporarily till the stock runs out, then you’ll need to keep in mind that there’ll be a time when every single Yeezy drop will be worth some good money on the aftermarket.

This means that, if you want in on a long-term investment, make sure you buy Yeezys in bulk- flex some and keep the rest for the bad days, and flip ‘em then. However, buying Yeezys would do you no good, financially, if you don’t know how to buy them for retail on release day. So, make sure you click below for the CHEAT SHEET of the year to get your sneaker copping game going because August is coming

So, the technology Yeezy used on them mainly differentiates the Yeezy 500 from the 350s, 700s, and others. The Three Stripes and Ye ditched the Boost technology and opted for AdiPRENE. Which is pretty ironic, considering that the Boost technology is one of the main reasons Yeezys are so popular today.

Funny enough, Yeezy didn’t exactly come up with the technology. So, it wasn’t the first time we see the supposedly “unique” outsoles on a pair of sneakers. Because if you take a look at Kobe Bryant’s third signature sneaker drop with Adidas, you’d notice that the sole looks much like Kanye’s Yeezy 500. However, this doesn’t deny the fact that the 500s have got their own fans that waited on every release for days, weeks, or even months.

Yeezy 500 Low

Previously known as Desert Rat- the Yeezy 500 Blush Low was the first Yeezy 500 to ever drop. That was in 2018. Two months later, the Super Moon Yellow 500s dropped, followed by the fan-favorite colorway, Utility Black. It took the latter two whole years to restock again.

But these ain’t the only Yeezy 500 Lows that dropped throughout Yeezy’s partnership with Adidas. Other epic colorways dropped throughout the years. And those same colorways are now considered the most expensive Yeezy 500s out there (check the list below).

Yeezy 500 High

One year after the Lows dropped, Yeezy released a High variation of the Yeezy 500 on December 16th, 2019. It first dropped in a Slate colorway, and it was the first high-top the brand released since the 750. It featured Slate neoprene and suede, as well as reflective piping that gave out a sleek look to this silhouette.

Later on, the Yeezy 500 High Tyrian dropped followed by the Sumac and Tactile, a year later. Thing is, even if hype beasts and Boost-fanatics already made up their minds when it comes to the 500s and categorized them as forever-ugly, others still love them for their affordability and comfort. Now, if you’re one of those fans, the Highs currently sell for less than $30 over their retail price. Some even sell for less than the retail. So, you can head to resale platforms to get yourself a pair.

Yeezy 500 Tactical Boots

Moving on to the last variation of the Yeezy 500, the Tactical High Boots. Ye first developed these 500s back in 2019, but they didn’t get the chance to drop up till now. And what better way to launch the second Yeezy sale than with a new silhouette!

So, rumor has it that the Yeezy High Boots will drop in two colorways: Khaki and Utility Black this August. Therefore, make sure you keep it locked on our blog and instagram @aiobot for the latest updates!
